Music therapy
Music therapy involves the treatment of people with emotional, somatic, intellectual or social conditions.
It is an independent, scientific-artistic-creative form of therapy in which musical means are used in a therapeutic relationship.
The medium of music enables the expression and processing of issues on a non-verbal level.
No musical knowledge required.
Neurologic music therapy
Neurologic music therapy (NMT) is a standardized system of clinical techniques for the therapeutic use of music in sensorimotor, language and cognitive disorders due to neurological diseases, whether in neurorehabilitation (e.g. stroke, traumatic brain injury), neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease), and autism and other neurological disorders that affect cognition, movement, communication and psychosocial functioning.
NMT techniques consist of scientifically sound, music-based interventions to achieve functional goals and integrate them into daily life.
